Three Interrelated Parts of Real Blended Learning
As the blended, online, personalized learning arena continues to expand and evolve, keeping up with all of the new publications, tweets, e-zines, and blogs almost amounts to a full-time job. Rather than spend hours upon hours searching the internet or plowing through PDF downloads, we increase our results by starting with some of the top organizations and documents focused on our topic.
International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE©)
A leading nonprofit organization, ISTE supports more than 100,000 ed tech stakeholders throughout the world. Their annual conference provides insight into new developments, proven models, and sessions dedicated to both the novice as well as the advanced practitioner and educational leader. They also provide standards, well-written case studies, professional learning options and white papers designed to support everything ed tech for the K20 arena.
International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL)
iNACOL works to ensure all students access to excellent education and high quality blended learning opportunities. Another nonprofit organization, they provide standards for online teaching and learning, publications, advocacy support, and an annual symposium dedicated to all levels of educators working in the ed tech arena.
Clayton Christensen Institute for Disruptive Innovation
A nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank, the Clayton Christensen Institute works diligently to improve education through the power of "disruptive innovation." Published in May of 2013, the Institute’s paper Is K12 blended learning disruptive? An introduction to the theory of hybrids challenges educational leaders, especially those in ed tech, much like what Blue Ocean Strategy does for the business world. They provide insightful resources through their blog, white papers, multimedia pieces, and speaking engagements (events).
Getting Smart
Getting Smart© believes in and advocates for better K12 and post-secondary education through the shift to personal digital learning. They provide consulting, publications, and speaking engagements focused on developments in blended learning research, technology, and innovative strategies. Fully connected to iNACOL, ISTE, and the Clayton Christensen Institute, Getting Smart offers a great one-stop starting point for those just getting started or those looking for answers to emerging challenges.
The National Center for Academic Transformation (NCAT)
An independent nonprofit organization, NCAT is dedicated to empowering ed tech within higher education. They provide expertise and support to colleges and universities as they work to increase the availability and effectiveness of blended, personalized learning throughout the post-secondary arena. NCAT has led the charge on course redesign and instructional technology models used in developmental education programs and beyond.
